Paris under your feet

2014-07-30

raphael-paris-3.jpgThere are plenty of views on Paris, on the whiteness of its buildings and the red chimneys popping out of the roofs, on the windows of the attic rooms, known as „chambres de bonne“ (rooms for the servants). There are some well-known views, recommended by the tourist guides, many of those that you can see only thanks to the visits of the private apartments. And yet there are some, less known, but accessible for the tourists and Parisians.

Such as for example the terrace of the hotel Raphaël by the „Arc the Triomraphael-paris-2.jpgphe“. Terrace with the name „Les Jardins Plein Ciel“ (Open Air Gardens), with a 360° view on Paris,  offering either a fancy dinner in a restaurant, in which the tables are set in the private spaces among the greenery and big wooden pots with smelling levander. On the same terrace, under the white sunshades there is also a coffee place and a bar with white metal fancily shaped chairs and green pillows, decoration design of the „Belle Epoque“, with the champaign bottles resting in the ice on the tables, completing the mosaic of the view on the Sacré Coeur basilique.

The chief barman Christian Gomez is known by his skills and his reputation is confirmed by the big red coctails named „Raphael“, served in the wide glasses on the long thin stalks. The receipt of the refreshing sparkling cockteil is the Perrier-Jouët champaign, strawberry sauce, Manzana Verde liquor from the green apple and green lemon.

raphael-paris-1.jpgOn the terrace of the Hotel Raphaël there is a curious huge marber chess-board which was built on the honour of the founder of the hotel and also on the honour of the French chess players club.

Together with the cockteils or non-alcoholic drinks (fruit smoothies are worth tasting) you will be served with olives filles with salmon or almonds, nuts with the sesame seeds and sault pastries.

Of course that in the price of the cockteils you have also the view on the lighted Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, roofs of Paris and its million lights and faces. On the seventh floor of the Hotel, in the sevents heaven of Paris.

Bar is open from 4 p.m. till 11 p.m. Price of an alcoholic cockteil is 27 euro, fruit drinks 15 euro. Terrace is open from May till September.
